Horses have brought so much happiness into my life and there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing horses and people improving each others lives. I'm very lucky to have the opportunity to work with these brilliant animals and the people who love them.
From my earliest memories I have been a horse nut. I got my first pony when I was 8 - I had a lot of fun at Pony Club. I enjoyed competing in a range of disciplines. When I realised I loved science at high school there was no question about what I wanted to do. I absolutely love being around horses. There is nothing quite like the healing power of galloping up a hill on my trusty old thoroughbred, Gully. Like the saying goes ‘find something you love doing and you’ll never work a day in your life’ ... I love being an equine vet.
Bachelor of Veterinary Science/ Bachelor of Veterinary Biology (Hons)
from Charles Sturt University.
My Honours research involved sampling lots of horses' noses and testing them for a new bacteria. I developed a PCR (way of testing for DNA) to detect this new bacteria. It was lots of fun getting out in the field and getting lots of horse cuddles.
